YCL Threats Deter Displace UML Cadres to Return Home

Surkhet/ March 7

The UML cadres of Sahare VDC-8, displaced on February 28 after threats by YCL cadres after killing of YCL cadre Asharam Sunar by Youth Force cadres are yet to return home.

 

The enraged YCL cadres vandalized the houses and business property of UML cadres and threatened to avenge Sunar's death by death of alleged killers prompting the exodus of UML cadres from the village including UML district committee Surkhet member Dev Bahadur Khatri, UML Sahare Village Committee chairperson Shashi Bhattarai and UML cadre Prem Bahadur Rana.

 

Bhattarai said he and his comrades could not go home because of YCL threats. Bhattarai was rescued by police soon after Sunar's killing on Febraury 27 from YCL cadres.

 

YCL cadres had set on fire the belongings of Bir Bahadur Thapa and Choprendra Thapa accused of being involved in Sunar's killing on March 2.
