Far-western Regional Convention of Human Rights Education Club (HRELIC) has concluded in Dhangadhi, issuing a nine-point declaration on March 6.
The Convention which started on March 5 has demanded guarantee of youth participation in all sectors of the state according based on the youth population. The Convention has drawn attention of the Nepal Government ant Youth and Sports Ministry to immediately formulate acts to implement thee National Youth Council according to the National Youth Policy, 2009/2010. Youths of Far-western Region have demanded self-employment of thse youths after making them independent at the local level.
The declaration issued by HRELIC Chairperson Ramesh Prasad Timalsena at the conclusion of the convention has demanded for the end of the Kamaiya, Kamlari, Haliya, Chaupadi, Doli system and untouchability and urged for compensation and relief package for the youths suffering from these ill-practices. The declaration further demanded compulsory participation of youth in cultural and tourism development of the Far-western region and guarantee of food security in the hill region.
The Convention has selected 11-member Regional committee in the coordination of Purushottam Awasthi.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of HRELIC, Coordinator of INSEC Far-western Regional Office Dhangadi Khadag Raj Joshi said that the youths should be first aware of issues concerning human rights and then involve themselves in awareness raising campaigns.
INSEC Chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel said that the youths involved in HRELIC campaign should prepare themselves for human rights movement. He stressed for creating awareness in the people.
Altogether 42 participants had participated from nine districts of the Far-western region in the convention.
