268 disqualified combatants discharged from PLA Cantonment of Rolpa

268 disqualified combatants from the PLA fifth division located in Dahaban of Nayagoun VDC-2 Rolpa were discharged on February 8.

 

Although, there were 452 disqualified combatants at the fifth division, many of them have already left the camp and remaining 268 were discharged on Monday.

 

Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UNMIN chief Karen Landgren, envoys of various five countries and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction Niranjan Upreti had participated in the function organised for the discharge of disqualified combatants.

 

The discharged combatants were given 10 thousand rupees and New Identity Card by UNMIN and 12 thousand rupees from the UCPN-M.

 

 

As per the Action Plan signed last month at the presence of UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Radhika Coomaraswamy, the discharge of 4008 disqualified combatants would be complete in 40 days. With the discharge of disqualified combatants of 5th Division of PLA the discharge process of UCPN-M affiliated PLA combatants disqualified from second verification by UNMIN has concluded. There are nearly 19 thousand Maoist combatants in UN monitored cantonment and satellite camps across the country.
