Clash between student unions force closure of Agriculture Campus

Study at Lamjung Agriculture Campus closed for an indefinite period from February 4 following a clash between ANNISU-R and NSU in connection with new admission at BSC. AG.

 

ANNISU-R cadres thrashed two cadres of NSU in the afternoon. Vice-chairperson of NSU Campus Unit Shree Krishna Adhikari and Secretary Prakash Parajuli were also injured in the incident. The clash took place following the incident. ANNISU-R cadres Nabin Baniyam Bikash Shrestha and Sagar Bista and NSU cadres Bal Krishna Maharjan, Kumar Shrestha and Subash Devkota were also injured in the incident.

 

Injured cadres of ANNISU-R have been undergoing treatment at Jana Maitri Hospital Kathmandu while NSU cadres have been undergoing treatment at local health institution. ANNISU-R vandalized and set ablaze the campus following the incident. Furniture, Computers and other important office documents were destroyed in the incident.

 

Campus Chief Dr. Yam Bahadur Gurung informed that the college closed for an indefinite period after locals padlocked the college following the incident. Campus Administration vacated the Hostel on the same day.

 

DSP Prakash Adhikari informed that security has been beefed up in the area not to invite any untoward incident in the future. Local administration deployed additional Security force from Pokhara and Tanahu in the area.

 

The incident took place three days after an all-party meeting agreed not to disturb the environment of the college.
