Conflict victims start signature campaign demanding Justice

Conflict victims of various districts of Western Region have started signature campaign from February 4 demanding justice to family members of conflict victims and sustainable peace in the country.

 

According to Kapilvastu District Representative of INSEC Nanda Ram Poudel family members of conflict victims and conflict victims have started signature campaign in Taulihawa from February 4.

 

Joint Secretary of Conflict Victim’s Society Mithai Lal Chauhan informed that they started the campaign to exert pressure to the government to provide relief and compensation to the victims of armed conflict and to take action against perpetrators involved in human rights violations. They have demanded relief to the family members of the persons murdered by the state, Maoist, retaliation group and unidentified groups along with victims of abduction, beatings and capture of properties among others.

 

INSEC District Representative and Advocacy Forum have also expressed their solidarity to the conflict victim’s aspiration for Justice. As per the campaign signatures will be collected from 12 VDCs of the district and will be handed over to the Prime Minister along with a memorandum on February 15.

 

Similarly, INSEC Kaski District Representative San Bahadur Thapa informed that conflict victims started signature campaign to exert pressure to the government for providing justice to them. Chairperson of the Society Durga Pahari informed that the campaign will be conducted till February 12.

 

Speaking at the starting of the signature campaign Krishna Prasad Parajuli informed that the government is adding pain to the conflict victim by promoting the alleged perpetrators of human rights violation. He also urged the government to provide justice to conflict victims by forming Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Disappearance Commission.
