Maoists Obstruct UML Election Programme

Maoists have barred the UML cadres from entering the VDC of Thulogaon on 18 March where UML had scheduled a programme.
In similar incident, the YCL cadres surrounded a programme being orgnaised by the UML in Dandagaon VDC on 18 March evening.
Madhav Prasad Aryal, the UML candidate told INSEC district representative over telephone that the YCL cadres were surrounding the Dandagaon police station where he and his cadres had taken refuge. When contacted, the CDO said a police team was sent in the VDC for the security of UML cadres.

Maoists have barred RPP-Nepal candidate contesting CA election from Jajarkot constituency number 3 on 17 March.
Shah, who was in Paik of Paik VDC-5 for the publicity was turned back after black painting his face accusing him of being pro-monarchist.
Following the incident, Shah is staying at Area Police Office Paik for seeking security.
Likewise, the Maoists have stopped UML team from conducting election programme in Daha VDC of the same district on 17 March.
According to UML district under-secretary Karbir Shahi who was leading the UML team, a group of Maosits led by Amar Budha had stopped them for 'entering their base area without Maoist permission'.
Stones Thrown on Candidate's Vehicle

An unidentified group has thrown stones targeting the vehicle boarded by UML Standing Committee member and candidate for Bardiya constituency number 1 Bamdev Gautam in Chaudhary Village of Mainpokhar VDC-1 on 16 March.
According to UML district committee member Purna Prasad Acharya, the vehicle with the number plate Bhe 1 Ja 175 was attacked as he was heading for Bansgadhi through Mainapokhar after concluding a programme in Kalika VDC. However, the stone hit the vehicle following Gautam's in which the UML cadres were on board.
11 Injured in Attack on NC Cadres

Eleven persons have been injured when a group of local youths attacked the NC cadres returning home from a programme organised in Narsingh VDC-6 on 17 March afternoon.
The attack occurred at an area lying between wards number 3 and 4 of Narsingh VDC in Sunsari constituency number 5.
Among the injured, Jamal Alam and Samsher Alam were admitted to Birat Nursing Home in Biratnagar for serious injuries while others have returned home after being treated at District Hospital, Inaruwa.
NC accused the MJF for the attack while police they could not identify the attackers.
MJF's Eastern Region in-charge SN Mehata denied any attackers was his cadre adding action should be taken against anyone involved.
Civilians Displaced Following Maoist Threat

Purna Bahadur Bam, 29, of Thirpu VDC-5 has been displaced with his family on 17 March.
Bam family was displaced after the Maoists threatened to kill him unless he pays them Rs 60,000 as donation.
A letter to Bam signed by Maoists' area number 4 secretary Kalyan accuses him of removing the Maoists-built gates and resting places in his field. The letter threatened of physical action if he did not pay the amount and rebuild the gates and resting places within 15 days.
NC Cadre Displaced Following Maoist Threat

Nepali Congress cadre Narayan Khadka, 34 of Bandipur VDC-2, Parche has been displaced to district headquarters Damauli following threats from Maoists.
Issuing a press statement at Damauli on 18 March, Khadka stated that Maoist cadre had attacked him with Khukuri on 10 March regarding repair of sewage in the village and had saved his life by reaching Damouli through the jungle. 'My parents have informed that the Maoists have threatened to beat me and bar me from campaigning in the CA polls,' Khadka said.
Maoists Intimidate Voters with Return to Arms If They Lose

A group Maosits including Maoist candidate for Palpa constituency number 1 Tularam Gharti and member of Parliament Legislature Rupa BK has warned that the Maoists would raise arms again if they lose the CA election.
Speaking at a programme in a remote Bahadurpur VDC on 8 March, they said the Maoists had to win at any cost.
Locals reported the Maoist leaders had asked them to stock up more food grains as the locals would be required to feed more Maoists than they did during the conflict.
Similarly, the Maoist wallpaintings and banners are still not deleted in the VDCs of eastern Palpa.
